These are improved versions of publisher landing pages.

Now, users can follow publishers, check out their latest articles, social media posts, and videos – together in a single place.

For now, Google has rolled out this concept of Search Profiles within Google Discover exclusively in the United States.

For everyone who is new to the world of Search and Google’s algorithmic changes, search profiles provide landing pages to publishers that anyone can click to view.

Moreover, these landing pages have:

  1. A big header image.
  2. The option to follow publishers.
  3. The space to display their latest blogs, social media posts, and videos.

Plus, you can see all of it together in a single place.

Barry Schwartz from Search Engine Land is saying that Google was testing this feature for months, constantly making tweaks like adding shortnames recently.

What Are Search Profiles?

According to Google’s official statement on earch profiles, the search engine giant went into these profiles in detail.

Search profiles give publishers and creators a central place to showcase their latest articles, videos, and social posts. People can easily follow sources from their profile, so they’re more likely to see that content on Discover, found on the home screen of the Google app.”

Google had more to say, calling search profiles a “new way for publishers and creators to shape their presence on Search. Search profiles are a dedicated, shareable space to highlight content across platforms, and help audiences find accurate, up-to-date information about sources on Search.”

How Do You Manage Your Search Profile?

Google said this is first rolling out to publishers and creators “with a sizable following on at least one major social or video platform.” These publishers should be able to claim their Search profile and customize it with an avatar, bio, website, social media and video platforms, and other important content.

Google added that claiming a profile may trigger the creation of a Knowledge Panel for eligible publishers and creators. But if you already have a Knowledge Panel, it will be enhanced with your updated avatar, latest content, and a direct profile link.

Where Is This Feature Available? Who All Can Access It?

This feature is currently exclusively available for publishers and users in the United States with a “sizable followers.”

Of course, Google plans to expand accessibility to this all-elusive feature over time.

For now, to access this feature, you need a minimum number of followers or subscribers on one content-led platform at least.

PlatformNumber Of Followers
TikTok300,000
YouTube100,000
Instagram100,000
X100,000

Why Do We Care?

This shows that Google is constantly working towards adding features that will help publishers, content creators, and site owners get relatively more attention from both Discover and Search.

Moreover, this is yet another new way by which publishers can expand their followers or subscribers on Google.

And not just other platforms but Google as well. And that too while attempting to highlight the latest articles and content of publishers.

However, in this context, the big question remains: Will this be enough with Google’s AI Overview all set to take over Google Search, especially after Google IO 2026?
