What Can’t You Sell On Gumroad? 

However, there are some things that you cannot sell on Gumroad, either because they violate Gumroad’s terms of service or because they are considered high-risk products by Gumroad’s payment and regulatory partners. Here are some examples of what you cannot sell on Gumroad: 

1. Anything That Promotes Discrimination 

You cannot sell any content or activity that discriminates against people based on their sex, race, religion, disability, sexual preferences, or age. This includes any content that: 

• Threatens 
• Incites violence 
• Reveals personal information about anyone without permission. 

2. Unlicensed Proprietary Products 

You cannot sell any products that you do not own or have the rights to sell, like other’s eBooks and courses.

3. Web Hosting Servers 

You cannot sell any services that involve web hosting or servers, such as IPTV subscriptions, VPN services, etc. These are considered high-risk products because they are often associated with fraud and chargebacks. 

4. Tickets To Paid Gigs And Events 

You cannot sell tickets to events, such as concerts, festivals, conferences, etc., or use Gumroad to collect money for events you are organizing or hosting.

5. Reselling eBooks With Reseller Rights 

You cannot sell any eBooks to which you have acquired reseller rights, such as Private Label Rights (PLR) products.

6. Selling Goods That You Did Not Create/Have Rights To 

You cannot sell any physical goods that you did not create or own the rights to. These are considered high-risk products because they may involve counterfeit, stolen, or defective items, resulting in complaints and returns. 

7. Selling Jewelry 

You cannot sell any jewelry products on Gumroad, such as rings, necklaces, bracelets, etc. These are considered high-risk products because they may involve precious metals, stones, or gems that may be difficult to verify, value, or insure. 

8. Selling Steam Keys And Hacks 

You cannot sell any products that involve Steam keys or hacks, such as gaming accounts, cheats, or bots. These are considered high-risk products because they may violate the terms of service of the original platforms. In addition, they may be fraudulent, illegal, or harmful. 

9. Pornographic Products 

You cannot sell any pornographic content that displays real humans engaging in sexual activities. Moreover, this can be in the form of videos photos, or live streams.  

These are considered high-risk products because they may involve consent, privacy, or legal issues or may be offensive or inappropriate for some audiences.

Artwork or illustrations are generally allowed as long as they do not violate Gumroad’s terms of service. 

10. Gift Cards 

You cannot sell any gift cards on Gumroad, such as Amazon, iTunes, or Starbucks gift cards. These are considered high-risk products because they may involve fraud, theft, misuse, or violation of the original platforms’ terms of service. 

How Does Gumroad Pay You? 

Gumroad handles your payment processing and product delivery and deposits your earnings directly to your bank or PayPal accounts. Here is how you get paid by Gumroad in detail: 

1. Setting Up Your Payment Settings 

Before you can start selling and getting paid by Gumroad, you must set up your payment settings. You can do this by going to your dashboard and clicking the “Settings” tab.  

Then, you must choose your payout mode, which depends on your country of residence. There are three main payout modes: bank payouts, Stripe payouts, and PayPal payouts.  

Let’s look at each of them in detail: 

Bank Payouts 

This is the default and preferred payout mode for most countries. If you choose this mode, Gumroad will deposit your earnings directly to your bank account in your local currency.  

You must provide your bank account information, such as your account number, routing number, IBAN, SWIFT code, etc. You must also provide a valid government-issued photo ID and proof of residence within your country. 

Stripe Payouts 

This is an alternative payout mode for some countries where Stripe operates. If you choose this mode, Gumroad will connect your Stripe account to receive payments for credit card sales directly to your Stripe account.

You need to have a Stripe account and provide your Stripe credentials, such as your email address, password, and ChatGPT API keys.  

You must also provide your bank account information, such as your account number, routing number, IBAN, SWIFT code, etc.

Stripe payouts are available in all Stripe operating countries except Brazil, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Philippines, and Thailand. 

PayPal Payouts 

This is the only payout mode for some countries where there is no support for bank and Stripe payouts. Gumroad will deposit your earnings to your PayPal account in USD if you choose this mode. You need to have a PayPal account and provide your PayPal email address.  

Therefore, you must verify and link your PayPal account to your bank account or credit card. PayPal payouts are available in all countries where PayPal operates, except the countries where bank payouts and Stripe payouts are available. 

2. Understanding Your Payout Schedule 

After you have set up your payment settings, you need to understand your payout schedule, which is the frequency and timing of your payouts.

Gumroad pays you out on a rolling basis, meaning you receive payment for your sales after a certain number of days. The number of days depends on your payout mode and country of residence.  

Here are the general rules for the payout schedule: 

Bank Payouts 

If you choose bank payouts, you will receive payment every Friday for sales made up to 10 days prior. For example, if you have a sale on Monday, January 1^st, you will get paid for it on Friday, January 12^th.  

However, some countries have different payout schedules, such as Australia (every Wednesday, for sales made up to 7 days prior), Canada (every Wednesday, for sales made up to 5 days prior), and Japan (every Friday, for sales made up to 14 days prior). 

Stripe payouts 

If you choose Stripe payouts, you will receive payment according to your Stripe payout schedule, which you can customize in your Stripe dashboard. By default, Stripe pays you out daily for sales made up to 7 days prior.  

For example, if you make a sale on Monday, January 1^st, you will get paid for it on Monday, January 8^th.

However, depending on your preferences, you can change your payout schedule to weekly, monthly, or manually. 

PayPal payouts 

If you choose PayPal payouts, you will receive payment every other Friday for sales made up to 2 weeks prior. For example, if you have a sale on Monday, January 1^st, you will get paid for it on Friday, January 19^th.  

However, some countries have different payout schedules, such as Brazil (every other Wednesday, for sales made up to two weeks prior), India (every other Wednesday, for sales made up to 7 days prior), and Thailand (every other Wednesday, for sales made up to 2 weeks prior). 

Checking Your Payout Status 

After you have understood your payout schedule, you can check your payout status in your dashboard. You can see your current balance, next payout date, and payout history.

Additionally, you can also download your payout reports, which show you the details of each payout, such as the amount, the currency, the fees, the sales, and the refunds.  

Moreover, you can also see your sales analytics, which shows your products’ performance, such as the views, conversions, revenue, customers, and sources. Therefore, you can use this data to optimize your products and increase your sales.
